Why am I doing this?

Cycling has been my hobby for many years and this year I have decided to put this to good use by doing two very important things. First, I can cross something off my bucket list and more importantly, I can do something really big to raise money for charity. With this in mind, I have entered the Deloitte Ride Across Britain (www.rideacrossbritain.com) which is an organised bike ride from John O'Groats to Lands End taking place between June 11 and 19 this year. This is approximately 1,000 miles in nine days or 110 miles per day. I like to think of it as 27 rides of about 35 miles (they will have two pit-stops along the route each day) as this sounds easier to me! I expect it to take me about seven hours and day, probably longer as I get towards the ninth day! With taking on such a task I hope that I will be able to raise a significant amount of money for the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre. My goal is $20,000. Hopefully I'm not expecting more than people can give with the recession we are in!
