The Centre is delighted to announce the appointment of two new board members, Valerie Smart Platt and Larenzo Ratteray, effective June 2023. With their diverse backgrounds and extensive expertise, they will further strengthen the Centre's mission to provide the highest standard of early detection, treatment, support, care and education for cancer and other diseases to all.

Valerie brings a wealth of experience as a non-executive director of various Old Mutual plc subsidiaries over the past decade. Larenzo brings unique expertise to the board as the Group Head of Consumer Solutions at BF&M. With a distinguished military career, Larenzo has served as a Major in the Royal Bermuda Regiment since 2003. Throughout his service, he has held various roles, including commanding A and C Companies and leading the first all-volunteer Recruit Camp in 2016. Larenzo's dedication to personal growth is evident through his completion of prestigious courses, including the platoon commanders' battle course in Wales and the advanced command and staff college course at the UK's Defence Academy. His dynamic background, coupled with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management, makes him a valuable addition to the board, bringing insightful perspectives to strategic discussions.

President of the Board, Glen Gibbons, expressed his enthusiasm about the new appointments, stating, "We are thrilled to welcome Valerie and Larenzo to our Board of Directors. Their wealth of experience, diverse backgrounds, and commitment to our mission will be invaluable as we continue to enhance cancer care services for the community. We look forward to their contributions in shaping the future of Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre."
