Dr Chris Fosker has been named as Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre’s new Chief Executive Officer and Medical Director. Following a six-month transition period with former CEO Lynne Woolridge, Dr Fosker was officially appointed to his new role in April 2025 with the full support of the Centre’s Board.
In his new dual role as CEO and Medical Director, Dr Fosker will oversee all clinical, strategic and operational aspects of Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre, guiding its continued evolution as Bermuda’s only nonprofit, community-focused provider of cancer prevention, early detection and radiation therapy treatment services.
Dr Fosker is a respected clinical oncologist and long-serving member of Bermuda’s healthcare community. With a deep commitment to patient-centred care, Dr Fosker brings more than a decade of clinical leadership to his new role.
First brought to Bermuda by marriage, Dr Fosker trained and practiced internationally before returning to Bermuda in 2015. Serving as Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre’s Medical Director since 2016, he has been pivotal in the development of the Centre’s Radiation Therapy Unit and expansion of its early detection and prevention programmes.
“Dr Fosker has been instrumental in expanding access to high-quality, local cancer care,” said Glen Gibbons, President of the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre Board of Directors. “His leadership combines deep clinical expertise with a clear vision for innovation and equitable health access. We are excited to begin this new chapter under his guidance.”
After the previous CEO Lynne Woolridge announced her resignation, Dr Fosker was named as the Designated CEO in November 2024 and engaged in a six-month transition period before officially beginning the role to ensure continuity for patients and the team.
“I’m honoured to lead Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre at a critical time for cancer care in Bermuda,” said Dr Fosker. “As an independent medical centre and registered charity, we are uniquely positioned to serve the community by offering accessible, evidence-based care. I look forward to working with our team, our partners and the public to ensure that every person in Bermuda has access to the care they need—close to home and when they need it most.”
Dr Fosker confirmed Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre’s commitment to collaboration within Bermuda’s healthcare system, saying, “Although we are not affiliated with any other on-island healthcare entity, the Centre continues to work collaboratively with healthcare providers, including PALs, and Bermuda Hospitals Board (BHB), to support continuity of care for patients along the cancer pathway. We continue to work alongside all other providers on the cancer pathway to ensure the delivery of patient centerd care.”
“We understand how vital timely cancer care is,” added Dr. Fosker. “Our focus will always be on reducing barriers and supporting patients throughout their cancer journey.”
As Dr Fosker settles into his first few months leading Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre, he is taking time to listen and learn from patients, partners, and the wider community. With the Centre now three-quarters of the way through its strategic planning year, gathering feedback is an important part of shaping BCHC’s priorities going forward. In this spirit, we invite the community to keep an eye on our social media channels in the coming weeks for a short stakeholder survey. Your insights will help ensure we continue to meet the needs of those we serve.
