Participate as a Team

We like to consider teams to be the heart and soul of Relay For Life. Without teams, the entire event would not be possible!

What do Relay For Life Teams do?

Throughout the year:

  • Fundraise: Throughout the year, our teams work together to fundraise for Relay For Life which supports the done by Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre.  These fundraisers can include e-mailing friends and family to ask for donations, holding percentage nights at local restaurants, hosting bake sales, and anything else you can think of! However, there is no fundraising requirement for teams – any amount helps us in the fight against cancer!

  • Spread awareness: Teams also work to spread our mission throughout Bermuda.  By recruiting friends to join your team, you are making the Relay For Life movement larger and will be bringing more people to Relay!

During our Relay event:

Relay is a remarkable moment when we witness the dedicated efforts of all our volunteers come to fruition. On Friday afternoon, teams assemble at North Field to set up their creatively themed fundraising campsites and sleeping tents for the overnight event. The evening kicks off at 6 pm with the Opening Ceremony, followed by the poignant Survivor Lap. Teams then take to the track with members take turns walking the track for 18 hours because cancer doesn't sleep.

Simultaneously, teams host various fundraisers in their campsite areas, featuring raffles, food sales, games, and other inventive fundraising ideas. It's a continuous flow of activity aimed at supporting the cause and making a meaningful impact.

Then, they attend the event together and enjoy all of the entertainment our captains and overall committee have planned, which includes games, live music, guest speakers, and more!  Teams are allowed to come and go as the please after they register, but to enjoy everything that Relay has to offer we recommend staying for as long as possible.
