Cancer Screening Recomendations

Cancer screening recommendations vary from country to country.  The medical community in Bermuda recommend the following cancer screening guidelines:

Prostate:

Age 40 - Baseline digital rectal exam (DRE) and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test at age 40yrs. (may begin earlier if family history present)

Age 40 + - Annual DRE amd Annual PSA or as advised by physician

Further information about cancer is available directly from the Canadian Cancer Society website, including the Canadian Cancer Encyclopedia (CCE). The CCE is a comprehensive database of cancer information covering a wide range of topics including risk reduction, screening, diagnosis, treatment and supportive care. The content is currently being reviewed and will be re-launched on 30th April 2010.
