Cervical Cancer talk by 2008 Nobel Prize in Medicine winner

Harald zur Hausen was awarded The Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2008 for his discovery of   "human papilloma viruses causing cervical cancer" . Professor zur Hausen has been invited to Bermuda by the Bermuda Hospitals Board to speak to their doctors and he has generously agreed to speak to a public audience on March 14 at 2:30pm. Most raffles have items like cars, bikes and trips on offer, but the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre and the Bermuda Quilter's Guild have teamed up to offer the breast cancer Quilt of Hope. Bermuda Quilter's Guild President Dorothy Slatter said she was pleased to partner with the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre. It has donated the Quilt of Hope to raise funds for breast cancer awareness. "The quilt was originally designed in Maryland and completed in Bermuda," said Ms Slatter.

The Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre is pleased to announce that the new digital mammography service has received international accreditation from The Canadian Association of Radiologists in Ottawa, Canada; evidence that its clients are receiving the highest quality screening and treatment.

The Centre has always been accredited as a provider of analogue screening, but is now the first facility on the island to be accredited for digital examinations.
